Last week I released a poll on Twitter to find out the topics that were interesting for people regarding lockdown. As you can see in the image below, 62,5% of the audience were interested in Mental Health. For those who don´t know it yet, I'm a Psychologist and the topic that drives the career is People and Mental Health in different scenarios. It might be a workplace, a school, prisons, and so on. Exposed to Human Resources from my childhood I ended up dedicated my life to them, as you know.
Soooo, with this opinion from the voters, I decided I wanted to create a simple bibliometric analysis. But... what's bibliometric analysis? Gathering scientific published articles from different sources related to a topic. Keep in mind this is not a complete analysis, is a simple one.
Taking a specific look at the past year because we all struggle with life - work - family. Was that the main focus for researchers? We'll see.
Just before we have a look at the results, please notice how this research was created:
Limiters:
I wanted to add some spice to the analysis - I can´t control myself - so I added a word to the second review
Limiters:
In the chart below you will find the first research labeled as 01 and placed on top, and the second analysis placed below with the label 02.
I think the numbers speak by themselves... Luckily there is a global trend that supports our popular concern about mental health, workplace, and lockdown and is willing to work together to analyze what is going on and find a better outcome for all of us.
A few things to keep in mind:
👉 Only 5 months of 2021 passed, so we still have a few months to see new articles. I'm pretty positive that we will end the year with a bigger number than in 2020.
👉 By adding the word lockdown to the search engine I minimized the gap, so as you can see mostly 2020 and 2021 are years when the word started to make ´sense´ to us.
👉 This analysis is done by heart, using a serious database from scientific articles, you might find some needs of improvement.
Conclusion
Mental health, workplace, and lockdown have been main topics in the past year and a half, and - from my point of view - will continue as part of a global trend to analyze the impact of this current situation.
What's next?
I'll be launching a new poll to find out what are you doing to take care of your mental health ☀️
